Come Ride with Us October 14, 2017

Ride for Recess is a fully supported ride along the quiet rural North Carolina countryside. The ride is based out of Snow Camp, North Carolina and follows miles of pristine rural roads frequented by riders from all over the state. Riders will pass by cattle farms, pastures, and natural wooded areas as they ride over the rolling hills. The event features multiple distances using a variety of routes to suit many different fitness levels. This is a great opportunity to explore a new part of the state and  ride some great roads.

There will be a free bike ride around the playground field for the whole family free of charge in addition to the longer routes to help raise awareness of the playground condition.

Early registration will include a t-shirt and spaghetti meal after the ride. In addition all riders are encouraged to stay and ride on Sunday in the area. All the routes from the ride will be marked or ride your own route. There is a local campground that will be available for people wanting to camp and make a weekend out of the experience as well as hotels that are located in Burlington, NC a short drive from Snow Camp.

We encourage all participants to register prior to the event. This helps us manage the event and prepare for all the riders. There will be same day registration for those procrastinators though.

Please click the  link below to register, don’t forget to tell us the route you would like to ride, t-shirt size, and provide all your contact information. Please note if you have dietary restrictions and we will attempt to accommodate you as best as possible.

Thanks and look forward to riding with you all.

The inaugural Ride for Recess is sponsored by the Sylvan Elementary School PTA and the Burlington Velo Club. The ride is to promote healthy lifestyles through activity.  By raising money with cyclists from around the state it provides an example of healthy active lifestyles to the children and the local community.

The money raised from this year’s ride is going to help construct a new playground for the third through fifth graders at Sylvan Elementary School. Sylvan Elementary School is the center of the Snow Camp community and the playground and school grounds are used not only by the students, but also the local community. Currently the playground consists of a broken swing set and an old set of monkey bars. The PTA and the school would like to raise money to keep the kids active and safe.

Come ride with us and enjoy our community for the day or the weekend and help out a great cause.
